The Oakmont Hats are a 4 pattern collection of hats inspired by the Oakmont Sweater Coat, Oakmonter Pullover + Oakmont Cowl. Also included is a formula and resources to ‘Create Your Own Oakmont Hat’. All sample hats photographed were made from leftover yarn from the sweaters!

Construction Overview
Each hat is constructed from bottom to top, worked in the round. The stitch patterns featured in the other Oakmont designs have all been converted to working in the round…

Pattern Overview
• Worked on circular needles, knit in the rnd.
• The pattern is written for sport/dk weight yarn.
• Includes measurements {after blocking} for each individual section in case you alter the pattern.
• Mosaic knitting {Complete instructions for Mosaic Knitting are included}. Also included is an example chart, labeled in detail {anatomy of a mosaic knitting chart}.
• 4 main stitches are used: knit stitch + slip stitch, purling + yarn overs!
• 6 charts are used in the knitting of the pattern sections. Both written and charted instructions are included.

Sizing
The Oakmont Hats utilize stitch patterns of 16, 8 and 2 stitch repeats. The hats are designed to be worn between 2 and 5 inches of negative ease, depending on your desired fit. Please see the detailed chart following for full sizing + measurements.

Needles + Gauge
Each of the four hats will use either one, two or three of the following needle sizes to knit (see recommendations in each pattern):
US 3/3.25 mm, US 4/3.5 mm, US 5/3.75 mm

Use the needle size you need to achieve gauge.
• 16 in/40 cm circulars for the brim.
• 16 in/40 cm circulars for the main body.
• DPN’s for the crown shaping.

Knit a swatch and adjust your needles accordingly!
• Overall: 22 sts over 4 in/10 cm using US 5 needle size {approx. 5.5 sts/in (2.5 cm)}.
